Production
Marko Terlegiz is a hand-made selection of the best grapes from the best and oldest vines of the property. In this way the character of the grape and the soil can be perfectly expressed.
Vineyards
The vineyards are located in the village of Kortezubi, a little old town in Bizkaia, famous for its prehistoric caves which form a Unesco World Heritage Site. The vineyards are located on a clay-loam textured topsoil over limestone subsoil, with patches of schist.
Winemaking
Marko Terlegiz is Oxer’s most edgy, crunchy, mineral expression of a Bizkaiko Txakolina. The most strictly selected grapes from slate soils, fermented in foudres, with 6 months lee contact, result in a most expressive age-worthy wine that is meant to keep for eternity.
What is in a name
The meaning of the Basque word Terlegiz is sanctuary for bees. Also is it the name of the neighbourhood where Oxer’s father was born and where the vineyards are located.
